As a fully qualified dental specialist trained in preventing the bacterial infection that causes periodontal (gum & jawbone) disease, her focus is to ensure your teeth have the best possible structure supporting them. Periodontal disease is the main form of tooth loss in adults, with over 80% of adults having some form of periodontal problem. So if you want to keep the teeth you've got, we thoroughly recommend regular appointments with your Dental Hygienist. Doing so also helps to manage any bad breath or bleeding gums you may have.
In each appointment your Dental Hygienist, conveniently located in Ponsonby, Auckland, will review your gum attachment levels (pocket depths), clean your teeth of calculus and plaque and check the bone levels around your teeth roots.
The other role of your Dental Hygienist is to make sure your teeth look good, enabled by actively removing all staining caused by coffee/tea/wine & cigarettes and finishing off your appointment with providing your teeth with a professional polish. Plus our Dental Hygienist at our Auckland dental clinic can also offer Teeth Whitening treatment options; a service many of our clients are keen on.
Accent Dental Solutions has a full-time Registered Dental Hygienist, Grace McGuire, and most patients are seen by her twice a year (more or less depending on individual cases). The cost of these visits is $180.
